The Male Scrotal Sack
This is a Sack that hangs at the base of the penis as the picture depicts , it is a superficial facia (a coating beneath the skin, made up of loose areolar tissue, with varying amounts of fat) (Anatomy, 2011). it is the structure which supports the tests, inside the sack there is a vertical septum and this divides the sack in to two and each contains a single testis, the dividing septum is made up of superficial facia and muscular tissue called Darious. the Darious contains bundles of smooth muscle fibres. being made up of muscular tissue gives it the ability to contract and relax, when the muscle contracts it causes wrinkling of the skin of the scrotum, which fetches the testis close to the body, when relaxed it descends the testis away from the body, the location of the scrotum and contraction of the muscles help to regulate the temperature of the testes, for sperm production and its survival, a temperature of around 3 degrees centigrade lower than the normal core body temperature, is the ideal temperature for health sperm if it exceeds this or drops below the sperm production could be severely compromised or even halted.(Tortora & Grabowski, Reynolds, 1996).
