this is know as the accessory sex gland and it produces most of the propotion of the semen. there are two of these and they are located at the posterior to the bladder and anterior to the rectum, they are a convoluted pouch like structure, the secession they produce is an alkaline, viscous fluid that contains fructose (monoscchride sugar) this along with the other fluids help to neutralize the acid found in the female reproductive tract, if this acid was not neutralized then the sperm would be killed and no reproduction will take place Tortora
& Grabowski, Reynolds, 1996).
Ampulla
this is the larges end of the Vas deferens and it is said that the spermatozoa will pool in this area before ejaculation into the urethra , as the spermatozoa age quickly in this area, the function of the Ampulla is the transport of spermatozoa and the short term storage of semen (Anon., n.d.)
